May Message from the President
Hello LWA Members,
I hope this note finds you well. All I can say is its amazing how fast weeks have gone by and here we are in May, and still in the "No Group Ride Status" - USA Cycling has extended “no rides” through May 31st. I know how you feel, I feel the same...I don't like being on the "stay at home", but at the end of the day if this keeps me safe from becoming ill, I will do what it takes. As USA releases guidelines for rides, LWA will post the guidelines from USA Cycling to help us continue to ride safe in 2020.
I am thankful to our LWA Membership. We followed guidelines, which leads me to believe all members took notices from the government and USA Cycling seriously. With the shut down of business, I am concerned about our cycling membership, is there anyone in need? Please reach out to myself or any board member. LWA is and will be here for you. We are all in this together, LWA will do all we can to help!
LWA members and LWA Board have been holding meetings thoughout our COVID-19 lockdown and it's pretty much business as usual, just minus rides. In April, Kim Geist, retired World Champion Track Cyclist joined our WebEx meeting, sharing her expertise on how to ride and train during COVID-19. Kim’s presentation was excellent and informative, there are links on the website and in meetup which Kim has shared. On Wednesday, May 27th, Mike Matts will join our WebEx meeting from New York. Mike will speak about his trip across America, as he headed East to West, with Adventure Cycling. Also, at our May Membership meeting we will be voting on our ByLaw changes which will make us compliant with the Non-profit membership count vs income in PA. Information on this ByLaw proposal can be found on our website.
If you haven’t already please log into Lehighwheelmen.org, and join the BLOG Site. Please share your stay at home stories, from love of cycling to what’s keeping you busy around the house, let’s keep caught up with your LWA friends. Continue to ride Solo, group rides are coming, until then, stay connected and stay safe!
See you on the roads,
Roberta Kates
