Get to Know the new Ride Leaders, part 4 ~~ Amanda Whittington and Hali Goldman
Here is continuation of our series to let you know about our newest LWA Ride Leaders.
The LWA has now had ten members become Ride Leaders since the Spring. You may have already met some of them on a recent ride. All have filled out a questionnaire as part of the process, and here we share some of their answers (some edited) with our cyclists.
Meet......Amanda Whittington, she has been leading a recurring Wednesday evening ride.
"I have been riding for about a year and a half - it is something I have wanted to do for my entire adult life and I am so thankful that I can ride now. It isn’t unusual for me to ride about 200 miles in a week.
On Monday nights I enjoy riding with the Lehigh Wheelmen with Dave and Craig. During the week, I often do more intense workouts on Zwift. On the weekends, I either ride gravel with friends or join the Thirsty Riders for one of their easier road rides. I don’t usually enjoy riding alone, but I sometimes do laps at Rodale and I love watching families riding together.
I am very passionate about helping more people ride bikes, especially women. I know from experience what it feels like to be a new rider and uncertain about group rides. I also know what it feels like to struggle to keep up with faster riders. Because of my experiences, I would love to help others feel more comfortable on their bikes and get excited to ride. I found myself wishing there was a Wednesday night ride. Since there isn’t one available, I would be interested in starting one.
I love to learn and help others. I write content for several bicycling websites and I am always doing research on all kinds of cycling topics from safety to technology. I have my own website dedicated to helping women ride more called amandacycles.com."
Next meet Hali Goldman:
"I started riding on the road in 2012. I've completed 2 Pennsylvania Perimeter Rides Against Cancer. I love to climb, go distance, and push my limits!
The biggest reason in becoming a ride leader now is to help with overflow groups on posted rides.
I am a certified Personal trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. I am CPR certified and First Aid Training is completed.
I love to ride and I love to share my passions with others!"
